Pocket book-1744
A wonderful bright wallet owned by Caspar Yeakel, 1774, Schwenkfelder, Hereford Township or vicinity, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
Caspar Yeakel (1748-1804) was the lucky recipient of this vibrant Irish stitch wallet the year before his marriage to Anna Yeakle. The use of this stitch to decorate a wallet or other small personal item, more traditionally associated with those of Anglo descent, is something of an enigma among the rural Schwenkfelders.
