Mary Pierce-1770

Mary Pierce-1770Mary stitched her delightful Adam and Eve sampler when she was 14 years old. It is a well balanced sampler with some lovely small bands and the usual alphabet worked in Algerian eye stitch. She included the ten commandments in verse form and a moral verse. This sampler is part of the small collection at Wilton Hall, the home of a prominent Virginian, in Richmond, Virginia. Part of the proceeds of this sampler will go to Wilton Hall to help with conserving their textile collection.
