Elisabeth Timms-1730
Elisabeth made her gorgeous sampler in England. She stitched the Ten Commandments in rhyming verse form and this is contained in two tablets. Across the top, we have clouds and a woodland scene containing trees, deer, a squirrel and a bird. The large carnation is worked in queen
stitch. The tablets are flanked on either side by vines of flowers and the bottom of the sampler has a beautiful delft blue vase with various flowers.
This sampler is worked in cross-stitch, queen stitch, and either tent stitch or cross over one thread depending on wether the sampler is worked on 40 count or 35 count linen.
