ANN PHIPPS (1721)This brightly colored sampler is reproduced from the Fitzwilliam Museum, access no. T18.195. Ann used various band patterns which were found on her items as pocket books, sweet bags and upholstery of this time. The usual alphabets and numbers are used as well, showing this to have been
worked by a school girl.
Stitches used are cross, rococo, tent, double running (holbein) and florentine.
