BAND SAMPLERBritish samplers from the 1600's and early 1700's were generally long and narrow as their main purpose was to record various design patterns, numerals, and letterings for future embroidery use. Generally these were worked by older girls or women. The original design by The Essamplaire
uses patterns typical of samplers from this time period. Stitches used are cross, satin, eyelet, square stitch, double running stitch, long armed cross, back stitch, and Hungarian cross stitch. Instructions for personalizing the sampler are included.
