James was a jeweler in the Parish of Christ Church, Southwark, Surrey, England. Frances had one older brother, James, born 4 July 1770. She stitched a wonderful sampler with an urn with a multitude of flowers, some of which are worked in free hand embroidery. This is flanked on either side by birds, angels, Adam and Eve and Mary and Joseph. When the 1861 census is taken, Elizabeth is now a widow (Thomas had died in 1859), living in Fairfield with her three children Elizabeth (1851), Mary Ellen (1855-1862) and William (1857).\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eElizabeth remarries in 1868 to John Willis, who owned a brass foundry. In the 1871 census the family is living on Edmund Street in Horton. The household consists of Elizabeth, her husband John, her stepson Christopher and her daughter Martha Ann. In 1878 Martha Ann marries her stepbrother, Christopher. By the 1881 census, Elizabeth is again a widow and living with Martha Ann and Christopher. For the 1891 and 1901 census reports she is still living with Martha Ann and Christopher but they have all moved to Southport.
