MRT-1743

MRT-1743 MRT’S gorgeous band sampler is of southern German origin. These long band samplers were made in the Roman Catholic south and were mainly stitched using Italian cross stitch, making them totally reversible. Most of these samplers contain at least one alphabet and several decorative bands, the first of the large floral bands at the bottom is found on several other samplers. The large parrot, the crucifixion and Adam & Eve are the main motifs on this sampler. The large peacock with its
upstanding tail is from Johann Sibmacher's pattern book, "Newes Modelbuch", as is the reclining stag.
Stitches used in this sampler are Italian cross, some tent and satin stitch. Can be worked in cross-stitch rather than Italian cross.
