Danish 1785

This fantastic Danish sampler has the wonderful satin stitch border with stars in it, seen on numerous Danish samplers. The large algerian alphabet is another common feature. A wonderful rural scene is stitched along the bottom along with Adam and Eve, a great clock, the crucifixion and a communion table. A number of these motifs are stitched in tent stitch and quite a bit of metallic thread is used as well.
