IVS-1792

IVS-1792A Dutch marking sampler. A couple of the alphabets are worked in marking cross, one in four sided stitch and one in eyelet. The crowns and cartouches were used to mark household linens and this would have been a sampler made by a young girl being trained to work as a seamstress.
Two rabbits face each other and a great rooster and peacock with hanging tail worked in colourful silks, all enclosed in a simple zig zag border
