This class is scheduled to start the beginning of January 2013. Throughout this class we will be looking at design sources, the different themes on caskets, the makers, construction and numerous other caskets with overall photos as well as close ups. The class will take approximately 2-3 years, with a new lesson posted every few months. We also have a very informative (on 17th century English embroidery) speaker who will host a webinar and possibly we will have a few more throughout the entire class. These will be recorded for those who aren't able to attend in real time. Registration deadline is November 28th, 2012.
The initial cost is $525.00 and this includes all of the ground fabric to be stitched, pen, wax as well as most of the silk and the first pattern to be drawn onto the silk. This amount may be made in two payments.
The casket is stitched using a variety of silks. The silk included will go a long way in making the casket but if more is needed there will be a charge for it. The casket is stitched on a silk satin which most of them were stitched on, if you prefer to stitch on linen then it will be made available. There is no actual counting of threads and most of the detached stitching is applied to the casket once it is stitched. Down the road there will be the additional costs for metallic threads, other silks and for fabrics, trims, doodads, etc. to finish the casket and the casket itself. There will be a $10.00 - $20.00 fee for the webinar.
There will be numerous mailings throughout the class. Each lesson will be $35.00 for a total of 15-16 lessons.
