MARY ANN ARMSTRONG (1856)The original sampler is used in the photograph and the reproduction is an exact copy. Mary Ann's sampler contains typical motifs of the 19th century: crowns, trees and potted flowers. This sampler is done almost entirely in cross stitch, other than some back stitches in the dog's collar. Her name, date and place are worked in cross stitch over one thread.
