FRANCES RICHARDSON (1786)Frances Richardson's sampler is an exact copy of one in The Essamplaire's collection. A variety of stitches were used; the sampler stitch (cross stitch), cross over one thread, rice, Algerian eye, satin and four sided stitch. A tulip border surrounds four different alphabets all in upper
case and two sets of numerals are used as well as a variety of borders, trees, birds, flowers and baskets around a central house.
Original sampler shown in photograph. Inscription reads: "When this you see remember me."

Thread Count: 30 count (12 thr/cm) on natural linen.
